Plutonic Venus - PV3 Interview

An exclusive interview with Plutonic Venus, with questions about her previously mentioned third studio album, future collaborations and more.
Interview recorded 1/14/2025
Q: Hello! Welcome to Kathy’s Post. Today we are interviewing a Special Guest... Everyone welcome Plutonic Venus! Hi, how are you doing?
A: I’m doing fine thank you
Q: Wonderful!… So, let’s start with the basics… you have a very interesting and unique name… where does it come from? Is there a meaning or an inspiration behind it?
A: Well, my stage name does have inspirations behind it! You see, when I started making music around mid 2023, I had an album called 'Platonic & Electronic' under my previous stage name, which was my real life name. But after releasing my debut album in 2024, Virus, I realized it was not what I wanted, so I grabbed the first word off my scrapped album 'Platonic', mix it with my favorite Björk song, 'Pluto', and then added the planet Venus; which adds a feminine meaning to my name.
Q: Now, of course after the release of your sophomore album “Full Moon & Acid Rain” everyone is waiting impatiently for your new record PV3 or as some of your friends refer to it, “AKBT”. Is there an explanation behind these cryptic names? Are you hinting something?
A: Well, you see... Guy wasn't supposed to say the name of the album — the name of its early stages, since the concept has changed many, many times in the course of 2024 towards 2025 — but he did at the time, so yeah... AKBT is the acronym for the whole name, which I'd rather not say because it might change in the future.
Kathy: Oh... there will be some speculations for sure trying to discover the album name.
Q: With “Full Moon & Acid Rain” being an Electronic/Techno Album can we expect this new project being the same genre or a different genre?
A: Well no, it's not the same genre as my previous projects... But! I might throw a techno song or two in the album as a little “throwback” of sorts — the album's main focus is gonna be ambient, drone, noise, etc.
Kathy: Ambient... I already love it!
Q: What are your inspirations for this new record? Are there some artists or songs that have inspired you to create this new project? If so, who are they?
A: Hmm... there are, yes. The record came to me when I was looking at old pictures of me and remembering old... traumas and stuff that happened to me during my childhood, so, uh... as in artists... Aphex Twin, Ethel Cain, and my dear friends Crystal, Oliver... this album is definitely my “Ethel Cain record” of sorts.
Kathy: Very intriguing...
Q: You have been teasing a new song on your SoundCloud, with a bright pink cover and a date: “01.24.25”. Is this a possible single for your new album?
A: Oh, that. Well no, it isn't. It's a standalone single released under Carlos' label "RAVEKID" — which I was invited of being in for my techno releases — but, no. It isn't part of the album. What I can say about it though is that I made it as a little gift for the one-year anniversary of my debut album "VIRUS".
Kathy: Oh! Well... we can't wait to hear it!
Q: Going back to your new record PV3. Are there gonna be some collaborations on this project? and if so… can we know who or have an idea on who it could be?
A: Well... collaborations I'd rather not spoil anything yet, you know — but, yes, there are. There's plans for three collaborators, but things might change. They're my friends, if you want a hint though!
Kathy: Oooh... that's very interesting. We might have some names in mind already...
Q: Talking about collaborations… your new collaboration with Gray is out now on his new ep “Apple of Adam” you produced the fifth track “You Were Never There”. Tell us more about this collaboration and how it happened… can we expect more collaborations in the future with other artists too?
A: Oh, I love that song! It happened quite randomly to say the least. Gray and I were chatting through Discord, he sent me the demo of the first track of the EP, and I went “Oh, you know what would make it even better?”... minutes later, I produced an entire new song for him, featuring his paulscretched and normal vocals... it's essentially the second part to the first track! And more collaborations... yeah! I have some coming out soon where I produced the tracks or where I'm a feature, but... yeah, of course, I love collaborating with other artists.
Q: Now going back to PV3 or AKBT. Can we know or have a little information about how many tracks are gonna be on the album… and if possible, some song names too?
A: Well, there will be 9 tracks on the album. And about the song names... hm... well, I have one titled “Angel Corpse”, another titled “Bruised Legs” — The titles are kind of dark, at least for me, they're personal.
Kathy: Oh wow... that's very deep. This record is very personal and it shows...
Q: Are there gonna be music videos for this project? And if so, can we expect more of a visual album with a music video for each song or only for the singles?
A: I'd rather not promise anything yet — but I'm planning on... at least, 2 or 3 music videos and visualizers for each song, they'll be published on YouTube and for the canvas of the songs on Spotify... my dear friend will shoot and direct them, so, there are indeed plans to make music videos happen.
Q: Are the mysterious photos posted on your instagram stories somehow related to music videos or visuals for this new album?
A: They're for a silly little photoshoot I made, but... I might use them... I don't know, I just laid down on my house's cold floor and started taking selfies and pictures of parts of the house I found aesthetically pleasing. But! Full Moon & Acid Rain didn't have a certain, specific photoshoot. I used a silly photoshoot I made when bored in my bedroom. So, who knows? I might use them as well.
Q: Now talking about singles… can we know when the first and lead single of this new album is gonna be released? Can you give us a hint? And how many singles can we expect for this project?
A: Singles... 3, maybe 4 if I'm feeling bold. The first single will be out this year, or maybe next year — if I do the music videos, of course, they take time and effort.
Q: In the music industry something that is very common with each artist is leaking songs or projects, that makes me wonder… what would happen if a song from this new record would leak? Would something change in the album rollout? Would this project be scrapped?
A: Hmm.. leaking is... it certaintly has had impact in my music before. When the demo to Nymph Rave leaked, I went on to revamp the whole song... but I managed to take it down first, which might not be the same scenario for other types of leakings. If the whole album leaks — which I highly doubt — I'd probably scrap it, or something. And if a song leaks, well, it depends.
Sytra: EPIIPEN TANKED!
Plutonic Venus: Kathy you better be transcribing this
Q: After the release of this new record there are some speculations about a possible Techno/EDM mixtape following the release of the album and an Ableton EP after it. What can we expect from these new projects? Can you tell us something about them?
A: Oh, yeah, I said that before... well... I'm planning a lot on a mixtape following the release of the album, as promotion, kind of? A mixtape including the Techno/EDM songs I made during the sessions of the album sounds cool. And the EP... I don't know, might merge those two together, or maybe I'll release it way after these two.
Kathy: That really is amazing... we will be getting new content.. and we are here for it!
Q: And lastly… yesterday there has been an event in the Big Sister Discord server “Communicreation”. Where Celeste has teased a collaboration between you and her, called “Shopping Spree”. Can we know more about this collaboration? Is it gonna be for one of your projects?
A: Oh! Yeah, me and Celeste are collaborating on her song, I produced the song, and I can't wait for it to release. Shoutout to Celeste!
Kathy: Wow! we can't wait to hear it! Thank you so much for being here and answering my questions
Plutonic Venus: Thank you for interviewing me!
